A recent report from Intelligent Emergence hints at Xiaomi’s plans to launch a new generation of AI glasses, developed in collaboration with Goertek. These glasses are expected to debut in Q2 2025, possibly during Xiaomi’s annual Mi Fan Festival in April. Sources say that Lei Jun, the founder of Xiaomi, is optimistic about the success of these AI glasses, aiming to ship at least 300,000 units.
Key Features and Market Position
Industry insiders suggest that Xiaomi’s upcoming AI-powered glasses are designed to compete directly with Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses. Xiaomi’s glasses will include advanced AI functions, built-in audio modules, and cameras, all aimed at establishing a strong position in the wearable technology market.
Increasing Competition in AI Glasses
The report also notes that other big tech players, like OPPO, vivo, Huawei, Tencent, ByteDance, and even Apple, are exploring the AI glasses market. However, many of these companies are still in the early research phases, so most won’t be releasing products until the second half of 2025. This gives Xiaomi a potential head start.
Meta recently introduced the Meta Orion, an advanced AR glasses model, though its production is slated for 2027. Given this timeline, Xiaomi’s earlier launch of its AI glasses could strengthen its position in the wearables market.
Developments from Other Companies
In China, companies like Meizu and Baidu have also announced their own smart glasses models. Baidu’s “Xiaodu AI Glasses” are expected to launch in the first half of next year. In October, Rokid launched a new AR glasses model, featuring functions like photo translation, real-time navigation, and an AI-powered voice assistant. Also, Thunderbird released its Air3 model, boasting a high-refresh Micro-OLED display, priced from 1,699 yuan.
Xiaomi’s Strategy and Outlook
Xiaomi’s new AI glasses aim to capture a significant share of the wearable tech market, backed by the brand’s strong influence and loyal fan base. This entry could drive wider adoption of AI-enhanced wearables worldwide. Although Xiaomi hasn’t officially confirmed this launch, Lei Jun’s ambitious shipment targets and recent partnerships hint that Xiaomi’s AI glasses could be a major highlight in wearable tech next year.
