Last month, Xiaomi launched its Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro smartphones in China, and now it’s getting ready to release the Xiaomi 15 Ultra—the top model in this lineup. Recently, a leaker named Digital Chat Station shared details about its camera features.
Camera Upgrades
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to come with a 50MP 70mm telephoto camera (Sony IMX858 sensor) that doesn’t crop images, allowing for sharper zoomed-in photos. The phone will have two telephoto lenses, which might even support a macro feature for capturing small details. Xiaomi is also reportedly working on a new handle kit for easier photography.
According to earlier leaks, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s main camera will be a 50MP 23mm f/1.6 lens with a larger focal length, a custom hardware upgrade over previous models.
Additionally, the phone could include a powerful 200MP periscope telephoto camera with an f/2.6 aperture and a 1/1.4″ Samsung HP9 sensor (like the one seen in the Vivo X200 Pro). The Xiaomi 15 Ultra should also have a 50MP ultra-wide camera using Leica’s Summilux lens.
Battery and Screen
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is likely to use a Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and come with a 6000mAh battery—larger than its previous version’s 5300mAh but a bit smaller than the Xiaomi 15 Pro’s 6100mAh. It’s expected to keep the 2K quad-curved screen from the Xiaomi 15 Pro, and it may even have an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
Launch Date
The Xiaomi 15 Ultra is expected to be launched in China in January 2025, with a global release likely to follow at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in March 2025.
