Samsung recently launched the Galaxy Z Fold Special Edition, featuring a sleeker design but a higher price than the Z Fold 6. Now, it seems the company is shifting its focus to a more affordable option for foldable phones. According to industry insider Ross Young, Samsung might introduce the Galaxy Z Flip FE, a budget-friendly foldable, in 2025.
What’s the Galaxy Z Flip FE All About?
After years of speculation about an affordable foldable, it looks like Samsung is finally making progress. The Galaxy Z Flip FE is expected to use the same display as the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 7. However, Samsung may lower the cost by using a less advanced camera system and an older processor.
Unlike the Z Flip FE, Samsung doesn’t seem interested in creating a budget version of its larger Galaxy Z Fold series. Instead, the company appears to be focusing on keeping costs down in its compact foldable lineup.
What About the Hardware?
There’s a lot of speculation about the Galaxy Z Flip FE’s chipset. Some reports, including one from SamMobile, suggest it could feature the Exynos 2400 or Exynos 2400e—chips that will be slightly older by 2025. However, if Samsung resolves issues with its 3nm production process, the phone might debut with the newer Exynos 2500.
The Exynos 2500 is rumored to be a powerful processor originally planned for the Galaxy S25 series. If Samsung faces delays with using it in the S25, the Z Flip FE could be its first device with this chip.
Why the Galaxy Z Flip FE Could Be a Big Deal
If Samsung releases the Galaxy Z Flip FE, it could make foldable phones more accessible to many of us. While the exact price and specs aren’t confirmed yet, the phone is expected to balance affordability with Samsung’s trusted quality.
It’s worth noting that Samsung isn’t the only company trying to make foldables cheaper. Back in September, Motorola quietly launched a budget-friendly flip phone called the Razr 50s in Japan. Powered by the Dimensity 7300X chip, the Razr 50s is priced at around JPY 115,200 (about $800).
If Samsung follows through with the Galaxy Z Flip FE, it might bring exciting competition to the foldable market. We’ll have to wait for more details to see if this phone becomes a reality
