Motorola Phones Receiving Five Android Upgrades

Motorola Phones Receiving Five Android Upgrades

Motorola used to have a poor software update policy. High-end phones got up to three Android updates. Mid-range and budget phones received just two updates. Some entry-level phones didn’t get any updates at all.

User Backlash: Users were unhappy because other brands offered up to seven updates. Listening to feedback, Motorola decided to change its policy. Now, newer phones will get five updates.

Phones Getting Five Updates:

  • Motorola Edge 50 Neo
  • Motorola Moto G75
  • Motorola ThinkPhone 25

The Edge 50 Neo is the first to get this new update policy. It’s exciting to see the mid-range Moto G75 on the list too.

No Changes for Older Phones: Older models like the Edge 50 Pro, Edge 50 Ultra, and Razr models launched this year will still only get three major updates. This seems unfair, especially for the pricier models.

Software Rollout Speed: While Motorola improved the number of updates, it needs to work on rolling out updates faster. For example, Android 14 took three months to reach Motorola phones after its release in October 2023.

However, with Android 15, Motorola did a better job. It started the beta program in mid-October and quickly distributed the stable build to some models, including the Edge 50 Fusion and Edge 50 Ultra, even before some other brands like Samsung.

Conclusion: Motorola has made progress but still needs to improve in some areas. Faster updates and better support for older models could win more customer trust.
